The Governor of Antalya, Hulusi Şahin, has issued a decision to ban weddings, engagement parties, henna nights, and military farewell ceremonies on the streets of the city.
In a statement during the February Public Order and Security Information meeting, Şahin explained that the decision was made due to the increasing number of street weddings as the wedding season approaches.
The governor clarified that events such as weddings, engagements, henna nights, military farewells, and Mawlid celebrations would now be restricted in open areas across Antalya.
Şahin emphasized that street weddings negatively impact traffic flow and hinder emergency vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, and security forces.
He also noted numerous complaints from citizens regarding noise pollution, which affects elderly people, patients, babies, and students.
He added, “Activities like blocking roads and disturbing public peace with noise until late hours are causing problems.”
The governor further stated, "Anyone who does not comply with this decision will face fines under Turkish Penal Law, the Highway Traffic Law, the Provincial Administration Law, and the Misdemeanors Law."
Şahin concluded, "This decision will be enforced throughout the year, not just seasonally."
