
Discovery of a Statue from the Roman Empire Era in Antalya Province
Türkiye Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, revealed the discovery of a marble statue of "Hermes," dating back to the Roman Empire era, in Antalya Province.
According to a statement from the Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the marble statue depicts "Hermes," who is described in mythology as "the fastest of the gods" in Greek mythology and the messenger of the god "Zeus."
According to Greek mythology, "Hermes" is known as the god of roads, trade, hospitality, diplomacy, competition, and astronomy, as well as the god of artisans, thieves, merchants, and shepherds.
The total height of the marble statue is 1.65 meters, and it dates back to the Roman Empire era (late 2nd century AD - early 3rd century AD).
The statement clarified that the archaeological discovery was made in the ancient city of "Aspendos" in Antalya Province.
