
Unemployment in Türkiye Declines in the Fourth Quarter of 2024
The Türkiye Statistical Institute revealed a decrease in the unemployment rate by 0.1 percentage points, reaching 8.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024.
This was reported according to data released by the Institute on Tuesday, regarding the labor force and unemployment rate for the period between October and December 2024.
According to the statistics, the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and above in Türkiye, seasonally adjusted, decreased by 23,000 compared to the previous quarter, standing at 3 million and 80 thousand individuals in the fourth quarter of the previous year.
The data also indicated a decline in the unemployment rate by 0.1 percentage points compared to the third quarter and 0.2 percentage points compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, reaching 8.6%.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate among young people aged 15 to 24 was 16.1% in the fourth quarter of the previous year, reflecting a decrease of 0.5 percentage points compared to the previous quarter.
The unemployment rate in this age group was estimated at 12.6% for men and 22.5% for women.
