Five provinces in Türkiye have announced the suspension of school activities in all educational institutions tomorrow, Thursday, February 6, in remembrance of the second anniversary of the devastating earthquake.
The Gaziantep province stated in an official announcement that all schools and educational institutions in the province will be closed for one day to honor the victims and those affected by the earthquake that struck the region in 2023, which caused thousands of casualties and injuries.
The statement clarified that this decision aims to give people the opportunity to participate in memorial events that will be held across the city.
At the same time, the provinces of Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya—some of the hardest-hit areas by the 2023 earthquake—also decided to suspend school activities on Thursday for the same reason.
This move is part of a series of official and community measures to honor the victims' spirits and recall the scale of the disaster.
