
Istanbul raises public transportation fees 35%
The Turkish municipality of Istanbul announced the raising of public transportation fees in the city by 35%.
The Transport Coordination Center in the Greater Istanbul municipality said, in a statement, that it will rise the full transport ticket to 27 pounds for the public and 13.17 pounds for the student.
The full metobbus ticket will reach 40.068 pounds and the cost of the taxi for the short distance to 135 pounds.
The proposal also included changes in the pricing of the car and the minibus, as the fees for opening the taxi counter increased from 30 pounds to 42 pounds.
The pricing of the distance increased by about 40%, and the cost of the short distance increased by about 35% to climb from 100 pounds to 135 pounds.
The Greater Istanbul municipality had demanded that public transport fees be raised by about 46%, but the representative of the Minister of Transport rejected the proposal, while taxi commanders demanded that fees be raised by about 60%.
For his part, the representative of the Greater Istanbul municipality confirmed that they demanded an increase of at least 46%as a result of the high costs, but in the current stage it was more than 35%to raise the fees, indicating that the percentage of revenue for expenses decreased to less than 30%.
Here is the new transportation tariff:
Regular ticket: 27 Turkish liras.
Student ticket: 13.17 Turkish liras.
Monthly subscription for the regular card: 2118.15 TL.
The monthly subscription for student card: 381.37 TL.
Taxi wages:
Open the taxi counter: 42 TL.
The minimum taxi fee: 135 Turkish liras.
