
New Year's Day is an official public holiday in Turkiye.
The Turkish government has announced that January 1, 2025, will be an official public holiday in celebration of New Year's Day.
Many Turkish citizens have already started searching for details about the New Year holiday, which draws significant interest, especially since the day of the week it falls on varies each year.
According to the government statement, the New Year holiday for 2025 will be limited to just one day, with employees granted an official holiday on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Therefore, the holiday will be restricted to this day only, with no additional days off.
Employees can, however, take advantage of the weekend (December 28 and 29) and their annual leave to extend their holiday to up to five days.
Since January 1 is an official public holiday according to the National Holidays Law, banks will also be closed on this day.
