
Over 58 Million People Use Social Media in Turkey
Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure revealed that the number of social media users in the country has grown by 1.7% over the past year, reaching 58.5 million people.
Minister Uraloğlu said that, on average, users in Turkey spend about 2 hours and 43 minutes a day on social media.
His comments were based on data from the “Digital 2025 Turkey” report, which analyzes internet and social media usage in the country.
According to the report, there are 77.3 million internet users in Turkey. It also confirmed that the number of people using social media increased by 1.7% in the last year, hitting 58.5 million.
Uraloğlu also pointed out that 46.6% of social media users are women, while 53.4% are men. He added that the average internet user in Turkey spends about 7 hours and 13 minutes online every day.
He noted that people mostly use their social media accounts to stay in touch with friends, family, and acquaintances, and to follow products they’re interested in buying. Most people use social platforms to read the news, chat with loved ones, and simply pass the time.
The report also showed that Instagram is the most popular platform in Turkey, with 58.4 million users. It’s followed by YouTube with 57.5 million users, and TikTok with 40.2 million.
Facebook has 34.8 million users, while X (formerly Twitter) is used by 19.7 million people.
Compared to 2024, Instagram saw an 8.5% increase in users, TikTok went up by 2.9%, Facebook by 1.3%, and X by 1%. YouTube’s user count remained about the same.
The report also highlighted how much time people spend on each platform per month. Instagram users spend the most time—an average of 32 hours and 36 minutes every month.
TikTok comes next with 26 hours and 26 minutes, followed by YouTube at 23 hours and 31 minutes. Facebook users spend about 9 hours and 45 minutes, while people on X spend just over 5 hours a month.
